DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Role Summary:
The Senior Care Worker will serve as a vital component of the practice’s nursing team, providing nursing services as part of the multidisciplinary team. Their role involves offering care within their professional boundaries to the registered patient base. As healthcare assistants, they will provide and support clinical staff in delivering treatment, preventive care, health promotion, and patient education. Their duties comprise assisting patients in daily living activities, while always upholding and respecting their dignity, privacy, and independence to the fullest extent feasible.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Key responsibilities encompass:
- Supervising and monitoring health care assistants on a regular basis.
- Assuming responsibility for the shift and service during their duty, conducting risk assessments considering the environment, other staff’s competence, and individual care plans’ requirements. They will also have the responsibility to devise and revise official care plans.
- Reacting to emergencies and providing guidance and support to healthcare assistants; helping patients with all their care requirements (e.g., physical, emotional, and spiritual).
- Providing care when required, ensuring patients maintain their comfort and dignity. Recognizing patients’ care planning needs and keeping written daily records.
- Responding to the Nurse call system, aiding patients as needed.
- Conducting regular checks on patients at intervals determined by senior staff members. Keeping rooms clean and tidy, changing beds, and emptying commodes. Assisting patients who require help during mealtimes and serving food/drinks as needed.
- Escorting patients to and from the ward as needed, e.g., X-Ray Department.
- Participating in staff and patient meetings as required.
- Attending mandatory training days/courses, both on or off-site as necessary. Participating in relevant training to gain required qualifications.
- Conducting basic observations such as pulse oximetry, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, performing wound care, dressings, and other clinical tasks as required.
- Preparing clinical rooms for each session, ensuring they are adequately stocked. Regularly cleaning fridges according to guidance, ensuring clinical waste is removed from clinical areas, and replacing sharps bins following the practice IPC policy.

Education
Qualifications:
S/NVQ level 3 qualification or equivalent,
Nursing Aid Certificate, or equivalent qualification,
British Council English test.

Experience:
Applicants must be capable of providing care and comfort to their patients and have at least 2 years of experience in a healthcare setting, either through previous jobs or voluntary experiences.
